Moscow - Moscow hopes that a return to six-party talks about North Korea's nuclear weapons programme will lead to a "political solution", said the foreign ministry on Monday.

"We hope that the negotiations that are restarting December 18 in Beijing will take place in a constructive way and will allow a political solution to be reached to the nuclear problem on the Korean peninsula," ministry spokesperson Mikhail Kamynin was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

The talks aimed at dismantling North Korea's nuclear programme will begin in Beijing on December 18, China said on Monday, ending a 13-month break during which Pyongyang tested an atomic bomb.
