Woman missing from cruise ship

London - British police said on Tuesday they were investigating how a 62-year-old German woman went missing from the Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) luxury cruise liner.
The passenger's husband reported her missing from the 67 000-ton Cunard liner on Sunday, while the vessel was travelling between the island of Madeira and its home port of Southampton, southern England, said Hampshire police.
The ship turned back to the point where the woman was reported missing, and Cunard staff searched the vessel, but could not find her.
The woman was travelling with a group of relatives and friends.
Detectives from Hampshire police boarded the QE2 when it docked at Southampton on Tuesday and have questioned crewmembers, passengers and the woman's husband.
"It is too early at this stage to speculate as to exactly what has happened, but we do not believe there are suspicious circumstances at this time," said detective inspector Dean Gower.
The QE2 left Southampton on December 17 on a Christmas and New Year voyage that included Madeira and the Canary Islands.
