UK extradites terror suspect
08/03/2007 18:58 - (SA)
London - A man sought in connection with the Madrid train bombings in 2004 was extradited to Spain on Thursday, said police.
Moutaz Almallah Dabas, a native of Syria, was handed to Spanish police at midday.
Dabas's lawyers had fought against his extradition all the way to the house of lords, Britain's highest court of appeal, but the lords rejected the appeal last month.
Dabas was arrested in 2005 in Slough, west of London.
An extradition warrant issued by Spain alleged that he helped manage a group of radical Muslims that included some of the Madrid bombers, who killed 191 people.
Twenty-nine people are on trial in Madrid in connection with the attacks.
