London - A British woman accused of helping her jailed husband run a Mafia empire agreed on Friday to be extradited to Italy.

Ann Hathaway, 44, is accused of collecting illegal earnings and laundered money on behalf of her husband Antonio Rinzivillo, who is serving a 30 years in jail in Italy for murder and drug trafficking.

Her lawyer, Campaspe Lloyd-Jacob, said she decided to consent to extradition "because that will be quicker".

He did not elaborate.

Judge Nicholas Evans told Hathaway she would be sent to Italy within 10 days.

She was arrested at her home in Manchester on January 18.
