  • Dubai - Iranian television said on Friday it would broadcast the "confessions" of one of the 15 British sailors held in Iran during the news at 09:30 GMT.

Al-Alam, a state-run Arabic-language television, said it would show "exclusive pictures of the confessions" of the sailor, who it said admitted that British navy personnel entered Iranian waters illegally.

Iran's Persian-language television said one of the British soldiers had given new information on how they violated Iranian waters. "The interview will be broadcast at the 13:00 news (09:30 GMT)," a presenter for state television said.

Iran seized the 15 British sailors and marines last week, saying they were inside Iranian waters at the time. Britain said the personnel were in Iraqi waters.

On Wednesday, Al-Alam showed footage of several of the British sailors held in Iran and said they were safe and well.

It showed an interview of a woman sailor, Faye Turney, wearing a black headscarf and smoking a cigarette, who said she and her comrades had trespassed into Iranian waters.
