Sendenhorst - An 11-year-old cyclist has survived relatively unscathed after being run over by a goods train, said police in the West German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on Wednesday.
The boy fell in front of the train on a level crossing near the town of Sendenhorst, but pressed himself to the ground as the heavy train rolled over him, leaving a gap just 22cm high.
Police said the boy, whose bicycle was dragged for about 40m, only had slight injuries.
The 62-year-old train driver reported he had not noticed the accident at the time.
