Arnie to visit Downing Street

London - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will visit Tony Blair in London before he quits as British prime minister at the end of the month, a Downing Street spokesperson told AFP on Sunday.
"We are talking to the office of the governor of California about him visiting. The date hasn't been determined exactly yet but it is unlikely that he will come next week," the spokesman said.
The Independent on Sunday said Blair and Schwarzengger, who made his name as a champion body-builder and then as star of the Terminator films, will discuss efforts to tackle climate change.
The pair met in Long Beach, California, in July last year during a visit by Blair to the US west coast state.
The meeting came after California signed an agreement with Britain to work more closely on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promote low carbon technologies.
In March, after Britain outlined proposals to become the world's first country to have a legally-binding framework for cutting emissions, Schwarzenegger said Blair was an "action hero" for his leadership on the issue.
The environment is seen as one of the central themes in the run-up to Britain's next general election, which is due before 2010 at the latest but likely in 2009.
The main opposition Conservatives have also sought to court Schwarzenegger. He is due to deliver a speech at the party's annual conference in late September.
Blair is due to hand over the premiership to his finance minister Gordon Brown on June 27
