Police posted at Heathrow

London - There was a strong police presence at London's Heathrow airport on Tuesday to prevent any disruption to air traffic as environmental protestors launched a week-long campaign against the contribution that international air traffic makes to global warming.
The organisers, who have set up the Camp for Climate Action next to the airport perimeter, also aim to demonstrate against plans for a new runway at Europe's busiest airport.
The British government has said that any action that would disrupt traffic at Heathrow would be "unacceptable".
Several hundred policemen were posted at the campsite to prevent the protest from spilling onto any part of the airport.
The protest was expected to reach its peak on Sunday with about 2 000 people taking part, organisers said.
There were at least 250 activists assembled in the camp on Tuesday.
