London - At least one person lost his life in a hotel fire in the English province of Cornwall, broadcast reports said on Saturday.
Six people were still missing in Penhallow Hotel in Newquay, according to the British broadcaster BBC.
More than 80 people were in the hotel when the fire broke out. The flames rushed quickly through all four storeys in the building.
To bring the fire under control, 100 firefighters worked for three hours. The mid-section of the hotel collapsed, a witness reported.
More than 80 guests and employees were brought to safety, some of them by jumping out the windows. Three neighbouring buildings - apparently neighbouring hotels - were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
