Lebanon army takes over camp
02/09/2007 17:00 - (SA)
Beirut - The Lebanese army took full
control on Sunday of a Palestinian camp where it has been
battling Islamist militants for more than three months, a senior
security source said.
"The battle is over. The Lebanese army has seized the last
positions of Fatah al-Islam in the camp," the source told
Reuters, in reference to the Nahr al-Bared camp in north
Lebanon.
"Most of the terrorists were killed today (on Sunday) and the others have
been captured. A few might have escaped, but the army is hunting
them down," the source added.
