Montreal - At least eight people were injured when their plane was rattled by severe turbulence in Canada, throwing some passengers out of their seats, CTV television reported.
The WestJet airline plane was flying from Calgary to the eastern city of Halifax late on Thursday when it suddenly dropped by dozens of metres, the channel reported.
The pilot had asked passengers to fasten their seatbelts, but some did not buckle in time. Some were thrown up to the plane's ceiling while others fell from their seats, CTV reported.
A nurse on board the plane provided first aid to the injured, most of whom escaped with minor cuts and bruises. But at least two people were transported in stretchers after the plane landed in Halifax.
CTV did not indicate the type of plane or number of passengers, but WestJet, Canada's second biggest airline, almost exclusively flies Boeing 737 airplanes.
