Moscow - An opposition coalition on Sunday overwhelmingly elected former world chess champion Garry Kasparov to be its candidate in Russia's presidential elections in March.
Kasparov - a driving force behind the Other Russia coalition - received 379 of 498 votes at the bloc's national congress held in Moscow, spokesperson Lyudmila Mamina said.
The coalition unites liberals, leftists and nationalists in opposition to President Vladimir Putin.
