Israel 'could' attack Iran

Tel Aviv - An Israeli military strike on Iran over the country's controversial programme could not be ruled out, Israel's deputy defence minister said in an interview with Israel Army Radio on Friday.
Matan Vilnai said all diplomatic means of pressure should be exhausted to ensure that Iran did not get its hands on a nuclear bomb.
However, asked if he could envision an Israeli attack on Iran, Vilnai said, "No option can be ruled out."
He did not say whether Israel would consider waging a military attack alone.
Earlier this week, Israel rejected a US intelligence report verifying Iran had halted its atomic weapons programme in 2003 and had not resumed it since then.
During the interview, Vilnai depicted Iran as Israel's "greatest enemy".
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has frequently called for the annihilation of the state of Israel.
