Milwaukee, Wisconsin - A South African man working for SABMiller was shot and killed in a robbery outside a bar during the weekend, police and the brewing company said on Sunday.

The victim, Lodewikus "Vic" Milford, 43, director of compensation and benefits for the brewer, had lived in Milwaukee since 2002, said SABMiller spokesperson Julian Green.

Police said Milford and several women were approached by two men, one of whom had a gun, after leaving a bar at about 01:10 on Saturday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Milford handed over his wallet, but was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was immediately arrested.

Police Captain Michael Young said nothing occurred inside the bar that led to the shooting. He described the homicide as an isolated event.
