London - Police are investigating the discovery of a corpse wrapped in blankets in north London on Wednesday, Scotland Yard said.

The body was found at 07:10 by a member of the public behind shops in Kingsgate Place in Kentish Town.

It was not immediately clear whether the body was male or female or how long it had been there.

"An investigation has been launched by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command at Hendon led by DCI Jessica Wadsworth," Scotland Yard said.

"This is being treated as a suspicious death at this stage."

Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this stage.
