US: End violence in Gaza
02/03/2008 21:23 - (SA)
Crawford, Texas - The White House on Sunday called for an end to violence in Gaza and for a resumption of Middle East peace talks, as Israel kept up a deadly assault on the Hamas-run Palestinian strip.
"The violence needs to stop and the talks need to resume," National Security Council spokesperson Gordon Johndroe said at President George W. Bush's ranch in Texas.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was to arrive in the region later this week on her latest attempt to push forward the troubled peace negotiations revived at a US-hosted summit just three months ago.
