Mideast: 'Bush still hopeful' US: End violence in Gaza Egypt, US 'to work hand in hand'

Washington - US President George W Bush said on Monday that he was sending vice-president Dick Cheney to the Middle East to "reassure" all parties that the United States wants peace between Israel and the Palestinians and push both sides to abide by their "road map" obligations.

Bush told reporters: "His goal is to reassure people that the United States is committed to a vision of peace in the Middle East; that we expect the relevant parties to uphold their obligations under the road map."
