Dozens of pilgrims die in crash 5 trampled to death in stampede 12 die in temple stampede

Bhopal, India - At least nine people were killed and several others injured at a religious gathering in a Hindu temple in central India, police said on Thursday.

The stampede occurred late on Wednesday in a village in central Madhya Pradesh state when a railing broke at the premises, where more than 100 000 devotees had gathered for an annual religious festival.

Authorities have announced a compensation of $2 500 each for families of the victims.
