  • Troubles continue at Terminal 5
  • London - Travellers can expect business as usual at London Heathrow on Saturday, following 10 days of chaos after the opening of the airport's new Terminal 5, British Airways said on Thursday.

British Airways, sole user of the new terminal, said it would return to its normal flight schedule by Saturday and did not expect to cancel any further flights.

On Thursday 34 flights were cancelled, compared with 50 on the two previous days.

More than 14 000 pieces of lost luggage still need to be delivered to their owners.

Part of the luggage was moved to Milan, Italy to be transported to its owners in continental Europe from there.

The £4.3bn terminal opened last Thursday, but problems arising from its automated baggage handling system plunged Europe's largest airport into chaos.

British Airways was forced to cancel hundreds of flights, planes departed without passengers' baggage and travellers were stranded for hours at the airport. - Sapa-dpa
