Beijing - The following is a chronology of protests surrounding the 2008 Beijing Olympic torch relay, and where the tour is scheduled to go next ahead of the August Games.
March 24
Protesters disrupt the Olympic flame lighting ceremony in ancient Olympia in Greece, which kicks off the torch relay amid mounting controversy over China's crackdown in Tibet.
March 26
Police round up scores of protesters demonstrating in Volos, Greece, against China's response to unrest in Tibet as the flame heads to Athens.
March 30
The final leg of the torch relay in Greece is cut short due to anti-Chinese protests.
March 30
Greece hands over the Olympic torch to Beijing Games organisers in a tightly-guarded Athens ceremony, after police arrest protesters shouting "Save Tibet" and waving Tibetan banners.
April 5
Russian police quickly pounce on a lone demonstrator outside the Chinese consulate as the torch bandwagon rolls into Saint Petersburg, Russia's one-time imperial capital.
April 6
British police battle to keep pro-Tibet demonstrators away from the Olympic flame as it passes through London, arresting 37 protesters who try to disrupt the high-security tour.
April 7
The torch is extinguished three times as hundreds of pro-Tibetan demonstrators disrupt its progress through Paris, resulting in a curtailed relay in the French capital.
April 8
A senior Olympic official at a meeting in Beijing raises the prospect for the first time of abandoning the international legs of the relay, amid a wave of protests targeting the flame overseas. The torch arrives in San Francisco.
