San Francisco - The Olympic torch has touched down for its only North American stop in San Francisco on Tuesday, where security concerns over the flame are high.

San Francisco Olympic Torch Relay Committee spokesperson David Perry said the flame arrived shortly before 04:00 (1100 GMT) and that it will be driven to an undisclosed location in San Francisco ahead of the relay on Wednesday.

Demonstrations are planned in the city opposing China's policies toward Tibet, Sudan and Myanmar.

Activists on Monday scaled the Golden Gate Bridge to protest the torch's impending arrival, but no protesters were seen at the airport at the time of the torch's landing on Tuesday.
