Olympic boycott 'a cop-out'

Washington - A boycott of the Olympic opening ceremony in Beijing is a "cop-out" and diplomacy is a more-effective way of pressuring China on Tibet, said United States National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley on Sunday.
"I think, unfortunately, a lot of countries say, 'Well, if we say that we are not going to the opening ceremonies, we checked the box on Tibet' ," said Hadley, a top aide to President George W Bush, on Fox News on Sunday.
"That's a cop-out. If other countries are concerned about Tibet, they ought to do what we are doing, through quiet diplomacy."
