Incest dad to face judge

Amstetten - The Austrian father who admitted raping and imprisoning his daughter for 24 years is due to appear before a magistrate on Tuesday, a court official said.
Josef Fritzl, 73, dubbed a 'monster' by the Austrian press, was moved on Monday from Amstetten, where he was initially held by police for questioning, to the court in nearby St Poelten where he was to appear before a custodial judge within 48 hours, the official said.
The judge can rule within 14 days whether to extend the custody.
Fritzl confessed on Monday to imprisoning his now 42-year-old daughter Elisabeth in an underground dungeon in the family home in Amstetten, 100km west of Vienna, and fathering seven children with her, the prosecution said.
But he still faces several days of questioning.
Meanwhile, police were expected to continue searching the cellar on Tuesday.
Several questions in this case remain unanswered: how Fritzl fed his daughter and three of her children also held captive, how the babies were born and cared for in the windowless dungeon, and how he could have incarcerated his victims for so long without his wife knowing.
