Vienna - A 12-year-old boy in Austria is accused of having raped an eight-year-old girl, the Austrian Press Agency reported on Tuesday

Doctors at a hospital in Klagenfurt, in the south of the country, reported the crime, authorities confirmed.

The boy was believed to have lured the girl and a friend of the same age into a basement on Saturday afternoon. He then forced the girl to undress and raped her, the girl told her mother.

The boy, who already has a police history, cannot be charged for his crime, as he is underage. Prosecution and social workers are reviewing the case.

The victim, and the young boy who was forced to witness the act, were in shock and receiving therapy. - Sapa-dpa
