Amsterdam - A spokesperson for the Amsterdam police told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa on Wednesday she cannot "confirm nor deny" reports that Madeleine McCann, who disappeared in Portugal last year, was seen in Amsterdam in May 2007.

Asked whether the Dutch police had been or were now involved in an investigation about the matter, the spokesperson said "the Amsterdam police does not comment on anything concerning the Madeleine case".

"All information that will be released to the media, is controlled by the police in Portugal," the spokesperson added. - Sapa-dpa
