Jordan 'won't be blackmailed'
10/11/2005 20:56 - (SA)
Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II said in a televised speech on Thursday that his country will not be "blackmailed" into changing its policies after the triple hotel bombings in the capital.
"Jordan is not afraid and will not accept to be blackmailed and these acts will not make us change our positions and convictions and to retreat from our role in fighting terror in all its forms," he said.
He also pledged to bring to justice those behind the attacks, which killed at least 56 people including a number of foreigners, were claimed by the al-Qaeda group of fugitive Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The strikes shattered the relative calm of one of the region's most stable states, previously considered a safe haven from Iraq's turmoil, and triggered worldwide condemnation.
