Geneva - About 2 000 bodies are still being found daily on the west coast of Sumatra, more than two weeks after giant waves struck the Indonesian island and other Indian Ocean territories, a Red Cross official said on Monday.
"Our volunteers are still collecting about 2 000 bodies per day, which is an alarming figure and only indicates that the emergency phase definitely is not over yet," Markku Niskala, secretary-general of the Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, told reporters.
Hardest-hit Indonesia's death toll stands at more than 104 000, out of a total 156 000, from the disaster caused by an undersea earthquake off Sumatra on December 26.
