London - A British man was jailed for six months on Monday for sending hoax e-mails to friends and relatives of people missing in the Indian Ocean tsunami, claiming they were dead.
Christopher Pierson, 40, pleaded guilty earlier this month to charges of causing a public nuisance and "malicious" communication for sending 35 e-mails purporting to be from the British Foreign Office.
He was sentenced on Monday, a spokesperson for the central London court told reporters.
