  • Washington - US President George W Bush continues to enjoy a slight lead over Democratic rival John Kerry in the waning weeks of campaigning for the November 2 US presidential election, the latest national opinion poll showed on Sunday.

The survey by ABC television found that 50% of likely voters supported Bush, 46% Kerry, and 1% consumer advocate Ralph Nader, an independent.

The phone survey of 2 407 adults - 2 030 registered voters and 1 589 likely voters - was conducted between October 6 to 9.

The poll has a 2.5-point error margin among likely voters.
