The truth hurts
In the US presidential race, the truth cannot set a candidate free, it can only get them into trouble.

  • Washington - The three leading candidates in the US presidential race, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain, appeared on Wednesday on the uber-popular US reality show American Idol.

No, they were not trying to edge out would-be idols, and their campaigns wouldn't say if they had any material; the White House hopefuls championed humanitarian causes on the programme.

It was the first time in this presidential campaign that the three vying to be commander-in-chief united for a common cause.

The three US senators made videotaped appeals for viewers to donate to worthy charity organisations.

Many stars also have signed on to the Fox television show including Victoria and David Beckham, Jim Carrey, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, Bono, Celine Dion, Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Connolly, Mariah Carey and Robin Williams.
