More good news for Obama

Washington - Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain by nine points in a national new poll published on Tuesday, a wider gap than several other recent nationwide surveys.
In the Quinnipiac presidential poll, Obama is up 50 to 41% on the Arizona senator, anchoring his lead on a firm support base of women voters, young people and the African-American community.
"Senator Barack Obama's national lead is solid - but it's not monolithic," said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Other recent polls have shown Obama with a consistent, but small lead over McCain, less than four months before the general election.
Gallup's daily tracking poll for Monday had Obama leading 46 to 43%. A Newsweek poll published last week showed the Illinois senator leading McCain 44 to 41%. A CNN/Opinion Research poll had Obama up five points at the end of June.
