Obama slams bulldozer attack
22/07/2008 20:20 - (SA)
Amman - White House hopeful Barack Obama on Tuesday condemned a bulldozer rampage in Jerusalem in which 16 people were wounded, saying he would support Israel "in confronting terrorism".
"Today's bulldozer attack is a reminder of what Israelis have had to courageously live with on a daily basis for far too long," Obama told a news conference in Amman ahead of a trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories.
"I strongly condemn this attack and will always support Israel in confronting terrorism and pursuing lasting peace and security," the Democratic senator said.
"Right now my thoughts and prayers go out to all who were injured and to their families."
A Palestinian bulldozer driver was shot dead in central Jerusalem after Tuesday's attack, which mimicked a similar rampage in Jerusalem three weeks ago.
