Sometimes dreams do come true – they have for Woolworths TASTE and Eat Out Culinary Bursary winner, Ayanda Matomela. Since finishing high school, the 21-year old – from New Brighton in Port Elizabeth – has been interning at Green Leaf Café as a chef.  This year, he’ll start his professional culinary training at Silwood Cookery School in Cape Town. Watch him accepting his award at the 2016 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards.

Woolworths is helping many more young South Africans get the education they need in order to follow their dreams – by giving away R1 million in bursaries, for example. You could be one of 50 shoppers to win R20 000 towards education or school fees – all you need to do is swipe your linked Woolies or MySchool card when you pay and you’re in line to win. Each product gets you one entry – when you buy kidswear, schoolwear or school shoes, you get two entries. (Competition ends 31 January.)

You can give back to your child’s education by making sure your Woolies card is linked to a school of your choice. Every time you swipe your card, a percentage of what you spend is given back on your behalf through the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet programme.  You can choose to support your child’s school or any other school, at no cost to you. Make every swipe count!
