Sport24 celebrates five years

2013-09-10 11:37
Sport24, South Africa’s number one online sporting destination, is celebrating their fifth birthday.

As a sports focused nation, the site caters for just over 911 000 local Unique Browsers per month and over the years has grown to become one of the most read sporting news websites - known for its informed and leading editorials.

Says the website’s editor, Garrin Lambley:“We are incredibly proud of our growth and impact over the last five years.  Sport24 and its team of journalists and columnists are well respected by the industry and sports lovers alike.  Our focus has always been to provide top quality editorial, commentary, analysis and opinion by people who are as passionate about sport as our readers are.”

Accordingly to Lambley the last five years have featured a number of sporting highlights with the following standing out as his top five:

1.    The Proteas winning the 2008 Test Series in Australia, which was the first time they had done this on Australian soil.
2.    The Springboks winning the series against the British and Irish Lions in 2009.
3.    The Springboks winning the Tri-Nations in 2009.
4.    The Bulls winning the Super 14 in 2009 and 2010.
5.    South Africa hosting the FIFA Soccer World Cup in 2010.
