A 20-YEAR-OLD Fish Hoek woman has laid a civil claim against the Ocean View Police after a police vehicle collided with her car on Kommetjie Road on Sunday, 29 January.
Mickey Theunissen of Theunissen Attorneys in Fish Hoek alleges that his client's car, with the woman as driver and three passengers with her, was hit on the side by the police vehicle near the Imhoff Gift's turn-off at about 01:00.
He says the woman is claiming about R50 000 in damages.
Theunissen claims three policemen were in the police vehicle, two of whom were injured.
The occupants of his client's vehicle escaped serious injury.
He says his client had requested blood alcohol tests to be done after smelling alcohol at the scene.
The docket has been transferred to the Simon's Town Police Station for investigation.
The police have confirmed that a case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened but have refused to confirm details of the accident or the injured policemen.
