FISH HOEK HIGH SCHOOL pupils Nerique Nieuwoudt and Anneline Govender have done the Far South proud by making it onto the Metro South district's top ten list of matriculants for their 2005 examination results.
Nerique was placed fourth and Anneline seventh on the Metro South's top ten list of matric exam candidates in 2005. The Education Department's Metro South district extends across Cape Town's southern suburbs and includes the Far South, Bergvliet, Wynberg, Rondebosch and Constantia.
Nerique obtained six As and one B symbol in the final matric exam, while Anneline obtained six As.
In addition, Nerique's Accounting HG result was the highest in the Metro South district and the second highest in the Western Cape. Anneline came first in the Metro South district for her Afrikaans Second Language HG mark.
Fish Hoek High School delivered a total of 12 matriculants with distinctions in four or more subjects and 23 matriculants with distinction aggregates. Muizenberg High School's Florence Jephta also obtained distinctions in four or more subjects, while Muizenberg High's Stephen Davids achieved a distinction aggregate.
Local matriculants also featured prominently in the Metro South district's list of top three candidates per subject.
Candidates who came first were Nerique Nieuwoudt, Fish Hoek High (Accounting HG), Anneline Govender, Fish Hoek High (Afrikaans Second Language HG), Laurie van Blerk, Fish Hoek High (Biology HG), Kelly Boyle, Fish Hoek High (Business Economics SG), Dalene Ingham-Brown, Fish Hoek High (Computyping SG), Emile Voss, Fish Hoek High (Geography SG), Clayton Baron, Muizenberg High (History SG), Calvin Scholtz, Simon's Town School (Maritime Studies A, shore-based, SG), Vanessa Mann, Fish Hoek High (Music Performance, second instrument, SG), Kirsti van Zyl, Fish Hoek High (Painting SG), Sally Ann MacFarlane, Fish Hoek High (Speech and Drama HG), Brett Radloff, Fish Hoek High (Technical Drawing HG), Jevon Martin, Fish Hoek High (Technika: Electrical HG), and Lizelle Franken, Fish Hoek High (Travel and Tourism SG).
The top matriculants at the Far South's various schools were: Nerique Nieuwoudt (Fish Hoek High), Mlaza Olwethu (Masiphumelele High), Stephen Davids (Muizenberg High), Synjhin de Beer (Noordhoek Private), Tamsyn King (Ocean View Secondary) and Calvin Scholtz (Simon?s Town School).
