WITH some notable exceptions, the Fish Hoek Hockey Club's men's and ladies' teams are performing well below their usual levels, turning the current season into one of the worst for several years.
Breaking the pattern are the ladies' teams in the 5th and 6th league, which lie in second and third places respectively.
According to the Western Hockey Association logs, up-to-date at 30 June, the flagship team, in the men's Grand Challenge league, is in seventh position out of the eight-team log. Their team in the 4th league is in eighth spot out of 10 with three wins and 21 points.
Their last team, in the 5th league, is in seventh position out of 10 teams. With four victories and 21 points, this is Fish Hoek's most successful team. The top goal scorers for Fish Hoek so far are Ryan Ballard (5), Heath Giloi (4) and Ryan Best (3).
The ladies have not fared much better. The 1st team in the Town Challenge League is second last, at seven out of eight teams. They do have two victories under their belt and a points score of 12. There is a big league jump for the ladies with the next team in the 4th league. This team is eighth out of 10 teams with 20 points and three victories.
Their 3rd team in league 5 lies second in the 10 team league, with 43 points, while the 4th team in league 6 is in third position on the nine-team log with 32 points.
