Storms wipe out Winter League golf
    Chippy Wood

Only four holes of golf were possible in the fourth round of the Bell's WPGU Winter league at De Zalze (formerly Spier) before play was suspended, then cancelled, because of the violent storm over the Western Cape on Sunday.

Round 2 at Erinvale has already been lost due to bad weather. In the third round at Atlantic Beach, Westlake, with a cumulative team score of 447 overtook Clovelly by nine shots to take fourth spot. Clovelly on 456 dropped down to 11th place. Simon's Town on 247 were 11 shots worse off than their first round and are now last in the 21-club competition on 483.

Among the local clubs, R. Larson from Westlake with rounds of 77 and 69 is in a three-way joint fifth position. He is followed by Clovelly's Devon Ross, 76 and 71 in a two-way joint sixth spot. His team mate, the talented Mike Stott, had a golfing nightmare (for him)on 82 at Atlantic Beach and has dropped to 33rd position. Simon's Town's A. Baba on 146 (81 and 83) lies 44th. K. Atkins on 165 (87 and 78) is 50th. R. van den Bergh on 167 (80 and 87) is 52nd. Last, in 54th position, is T. de Moyencourt of Metropolitan on 169 (81 and 88).
