Fish Hoek's CRICKETERS opened the season in grand style, with a comprehensive win over Rygersdal at Silverglade on the weekend.
A good all-round team effort was highlighted by two superb individual performances. Derek Pedersen scored a classy unbeaten century (110 not out) and paceman Ryan Bekker took 9 wickets in the match.
Rygersdal were rolled out for 118 with Bekker (3), Andre Olwagen (3) and Steven Howells doing the damage with lots of pace.
Fish Hoek replied with a sizeable 247 for 5, with Marc de Beer, in tandem with Pedersen, getting a very good 50 in his first league outing for the club.
It was then left for Bekker to clean up in style, with 6 wickets enabling Fish Hoek to win by an innings and 27 runs. Another highlight was a century by 4th team skipper and all rounder Mark Wynne (vs UWC).
This is certainly going to be a good season for the club!
