    Molema conquers the Milkwood
    Jason Acar

FEELING unstoppable, Neo Molema breezed through the still, scenic route of the Milkwood 21.1km half marathon for victory.

Molema (Mr Price Western Province) came fresh off a big win in Mossel Bay where he claimed the R80 000 prize money.

The cool and collected Molema did not decide to take a break and spend the money, but has rather opted to continue on his momentum and take in a few more races over the next few weeks before taking a rest.

He came over the line at the Soetwater Recreation Area unchallenged in a time of 1:07:52.

Second place in the mens open division went to Zolile Bhitane (Nedbank) in 1:08:40, with Peter Tsawayo (Gugs) third, in a time of 1:10:20.

Michelle Bartman (Cape Peninsula University of Technology) has enjoyed strong results recently and astounded her fellow runners when the veteran runner claimed victory in the race, with a fantastic time of 1:22:50.

She was followed by Julia Janse van Rensburg (Mr Price Celtics) in second, in a time of 1:29:11. Cheryl de Lange (Nedbank) rounded off the top three in 1:29:26.

Despite not having a major sponsor for the event this year, which was held for the fifth time, it was considered a success with a record entry of participants for the race.

Milkwood also offered a 5km fun run as well as the 10km event. Instead of the traditional medals, all finishers received an indigenous plant which is meant to remind them of their achievement for the years to come.
