    'Keep dogs off the fields'
    08-05-2008

Phil Beesley, Vice Chairman, Somerset West Hockey Club, writes:

I would like to appeal to all dog owners that use Radloff Park to please keep their dogs off the main hockey and cricket fields in front of the clubhouse.

You have acres of space to walk your dogs in the surrounding areas.

We find it extremely frustrating finding dog mess all over the fields where club and school teams practice and play hockey and cricket week in and week out.

We have spent many thousands of rands on the fields over the last few months to get them into a playable state for our local sport community to use.

It is not pleasant when you find yourself sliding through some rather nasty smelling poop!

If you find it necessary to use the fields, at least have the common courtesy to clean up after your dogs.

I am also a dog owner and exercise my dogs regularly in the surrounding area.

    Thanking you in advance.
