Helderberg commuters who travel from Kuils River will soon be able to stop off for groceries at a new regional shopping centre, which will include a SuperSpar. The Spar supermarket group will open its second SuperSpar store in the Western Cape as an anchor tenant in the new Zevenwacht Mall - a regional centre like Somerset Mall - on April 24.
The centre is situated at the intersection of two major arterial roads - Polkadraai and Van Riebeeck Roads in Kuils River.
"The area is experiencing unprecedented growth, particularly in the field of residential development," says Doug Parker, who conducted the feasibility research study.
The SuperSpar will be an anchor tenant, along with Woolworths. The Edgars, Foschini and Pepcor groups will also all be represented - Jet, CNA, Legit, Foschini, Markhams, @ Home, American Swiss, Totalsports, Exact!, Truworths, Identity, Ackermans, Pep, Shoe City, Mr Price, Mr Price Home, Milady's, Sheet Street, Clicks and Musica have all already signed up. In addition to this, the four major banks will be represented within the Zevenwacht Mall. Co-owner of the SuperSpar, Sandi Uys, is excited about the growth that she and her partners, Chean Roux and Rudolf le Roux, envisage for the store.
Uys is a former employee of Woolworths while Roux and Le Roux are the owners of Wellington Spar.
The new SuperSpar will have a bakery, butchery, deli and hot food sections.
A Tops liquor store will be located next to the SuperSpar.
"We have a really exciting opening planned," says Uys. "Not only will customers be delighted with our mega opening specials, but in addition to this, one lucky shopper in this store will win a VW TenaCiti in a lucky draw!"
