Talented young leg spin bowler from the Hottentots Holland cricket club, Abdul Aziz Temoor, heard earlier this month that he had been accepted into the Cricket South Africa Academy.
This is a fantastic achievement and a just reward for this hard working and dedicated cricketer.
According to the chairman of the Hottentots Holland Cricket Club, Fahdil Crombie, Abdul joined HHCC at the young age of 15 and immediately represented the club's First Team, then playing in the 2 A league.
While at Strand High he acquired WP cricket honours in u/16 and u/19.
Fahdil said that Abdul soon became a stalwart and pillar of experience and progressed to the role of captain at the age of 20.
In 2007 he was called up for the WP academy and in the same year progressed to the WP amateur team.
"His total commitment and passion for cricket has resulted in his uptake to the CSA academy starting in May 2008 at the Pretoria High Performance centre, where he will be based for 5 months under the most professional eyes within the cricket fraternity.
"A touring squad of 15 from the elected 20 will tour Bangladesh in April 2008 and we as a club a keen and trusting that he will form part of this tour group.
"In a nutshell, Abdul is a breathe of fresh air that we as community desperately needs during these trying times and we at HHCC wish him all the best of health and trust the he will reach his dream and inspire all young cricketers in the Helderberg," Fahdil said.
