    Jaco wins three coveted prizes at awards dinner

    Somerset West Cricket Club's talented all-rounder and the first team's vice-captain, Jaco Castle, walked off with three coveted awards - including the SWCC Player of the Year at the club's annual prize giving dinner held at Kilts Restaurant on Friday, April 11.

    Jaco also won awards for Best First Team Batsman and Best First Team Bowler, while his older brother, Vincent, won the First Team's Best Fielder trophy.

    Second team player, Peter Baumeister, also won more than one trophy.

    He was awarded the second team's Best Batsman and Best Fielder trophies while team mate Popeye Visser won the second team's Best Bowler award.

    Prizes for the third team were awarded to Chris Carroll - third team?s Best Batsman, Francois van der Vyfer - third team?s Best Bowler and Ian Reed - third team's Best Fielder.

    Mike "Sanchez" Harris won the fourth team's Best Batsman prize while Nic van der Vyfer won the fourth team's Best Bowler prize and Emile Chochane the fourth team's Best Fielder trophy.

    The fifth team's Best Batsman award was awarded to John Guthrie with Sydney Goodes winning the Best Bowler Award and Daniel Pieterse the fifth team's Best Fielder prize.

    The SWCC's Esprit de Corpe Award went to Jaco Kotze, the club's Most Improved Player trophy was this year presented to Jahn Cilliers and the Phoenix Award to Koos Dreyer.

    Club members are reminded that the SWCC Golf Day will be held at Strand Golf Club on Sunday, April 20.
