'Will stolen trolleys still be used?'
    04/07/08

    "ANTI THEFT" writes:

I was interested to see that the "Trolley Brigade" will be officially involved in the collection of recyclable waste.

My question is, will these people be provided with trolleys in future or will they continue to use trolleys stolen from local supermarkets?

Every day one encounters people conveying their goods in trolleys which must be stolen from the local supermarket.

One can argue that they have no other means of transporting their goods, but does that make it OK to take what belongs to somebody else?

If that is condoned then maybe next week somebody may need a car and then it will be OK to help yourself to any one available. Or maybe somebody needs my TV to watch the Saturday sports game.

Of course, all these stolen trolleys are being paid for by the supermarket clients and costs are factored into the prices we pay. It amazes me that nobody does anything about the theft which one witnesses every day and maybe it is time we had some zero tolerance to this petty crime.
