Marjie Penninkhof writes via e-mail: I wish to thank and praise the service rendered to us by Willie Engelbrecht of Helderberg Crime Watch. My two-year-old-grandson recently "played" with his mother's expensive family heirloom diamond ring. They are in the process of building a pool which, at that stage, was nothing but a muddy hole in the ground. The little one told us he had thrown the ring into the hole! We were forced to temporarily halt the pool building process.

After more than an hour and 20 phone calls requesting a metal detector, we were delighted when Mr Engelbrecht offered his services. He arrived soon after our call, cheerfully removed his shoes, climbed into the mud, and set his metal detector to work. Our police informed us they had one but that it wasn't charged!

Helderberg Crime Watch are exceptionally pro-active, not only to community service but more importantly to crime control. They are collecting funds for a neighbourhood vehicle and I implore the public to donate any amount towards this cause. Mr Engelbrecht can be contacted on 083 787 7771.
