Barbi Desmedt, Fellow thespian writes: Sunday evening I was invited to join a panel member of the Cape Amateur Theatre Awards (CATA) to a prestigious annual awards night at our own Playhouse Theatre.

What pride to be a part of our Somerset West thespian society who hosted these awards for the first time.

Numerous theatrical societies were in attendance.

Nominations for the various awards were plentiful for all categories.

HHDS can be proud of their achievement not only for the nominations/awards received but for hosting a well orchestrated evening of this magnitude.

Well done to all concerned!

Valda Haarhoff from Somerset West writes: I am a volunteer worker at the kennels of Animal Welfare in Gordon's Bay. I would like to say a big thank you to the members of the public that supported our "Adopt a Pet" this past weekend.

Your kindness and your commitment are greatly appreciated by the animals that you adopted and by us who work and care for these poor unfortunate animals. We claimed a storm and water damage to our insurance.

Willem inspected the place and a day later he arrived with his team to get ecerything fixed.

Within one and a half days the work was done, quick and efficient. His workers are reliable, competent and hard working. We had almost no paperwork to do, no quotes to ask for, not any cleaning or rearranging afterwards.

Congratulations to ABSA Insurance Company for having Willem in charge and thank you very much to Willem and his professional team.
