JUDY BROWER writes on behalf of Newberry House Montessori Primary in Somerset West:
Newberry House Montessori Primary in Dirkie Uys Street is devastated by a recent burglary where two of our computers, a CD player, ceiling and standing fans, and more were stolen. The school was broken into three times over the period of March 14 to 17.
The burglars broke two windows, broke and bent the burglar bars, set off the alarm (connected to ADT!) and still managed to get away with two of our newly donated computers from Neil Harvey & Associates!
We are devastated, as we have all worked really hard to get all the computer equipment donated, installed, set up and ready for classes to start in the second term.
Of course the police have still not been to take finger prints - after calling them twice.
Criminals seem to have no regard for anything, especially schools, and children, and we all need to work hard to engender responsible caring souls in our children to help them to change society for a better future.
We at Newberry House are totally committed to this.
If anyone has any good computers or CD players or fans which they are willing to donate to the school, we would be very grateful so that we can still start our computer-specific training next term.
Please phone Liz Richards if you can help on (021) 852-3220 or Halima Beale on 084 555 0656 during the school holidays.
