ANOUX MASSEY of PETS - Pet Empowerment in TownShips - in Somerset West writes:
On Friday, April 4 PETS while on feeding rounds were alerted to a dog in urgent need of help by some of the kids playing in Boundary Street, Strand.
Apparently the children had seen a motorist knock over a gorgeous Alsatian type dog and then stopped to throw its broken but yet alive body over the bridge into the water.
By the time we were able to rescue this wretched dog, it had been lying for hours in ice cold, dirty and polluted water with a broken back. We rushed the dog to the vet where mercifully it was allowed to be put to sleep and was relieved from all its pain and suffering.
Now my question to the people of the Helderberg is: How can we allow this amount of cruelty to happen right in front of our eyes?
PLEASE people, animals are living, feeling creatures too who cannot express pain and even more importantly cannot inflict pain on us, so why do we feel it is okay to hurt and abuse them?
We (PETS) urge the public to open their eyes and ears to abuse. Report these crimes and let?s all stand together and help animals who repay cruelty with a wagging tail. As for people who run over animals and leave them there to die a painful death, remember the wheel turns in life!
