STRAND UNITED lost 71-29 to BellTech at Bellville South on Saturday and despite securing a bonus point from the game, left them struggling at the bottom of the Super League B.
This is only United's second point on the log as they managed to score four tries against a rampant BellTech team, who scored no less than 11 tries in the match.
Although BellTech led 45-8 at half time, the young Strand United team redeemed some of their lost pride when their backs ran in four super tries to secure them an away bonus point.
The young turks in the United side did well and their handling of the high pressure that was put on them augers well for the future.
If United had had more quality possession from the first phases they would have fared much better.
Looking ahead, they should give a better account of themselves for the rest of the season starting with Primroses at home this Saturday.
If United can win their remaining home games they should be able to stay in this league next season.
Quinton Davids came on as a replacement late in the second half, but had no impact on the game as he looked tired from playing in the second team match.
The United players who scored tries were Abubaker Rhode, Lucien Ruiters, Faizel Harris and Kashief Slamdien.
The try by Rhode was a gem and came about when debutante scrumhalf Nabeel Stuart broke around the blind side, ran 30 metres and slipped the ball inside to Abu who went through the narrowest of gaps and outstripped the cover defence.
United's other points came via a penalty by Waseem Willemse and three conversions by Shafiek Herman.
